The Old Gits is not a commercial organisation. We don't charge anything and don't make a profit. Those on the trips simply pay their own costs but benefit from any group discounts that can be arranged.

Old Gits Extra Trips

Background

Since 1998 the Old Gits trips happen once a year and are “gentlemen only” trips where the numbers attending can be quite large. The work to organise them is done for free and those on the trip only pay for their own accommodation and ferry crossings.  However, we have been asked by a number of people if we’d be interested in utilising almost 30 years of experience to deliver trips which would allow for both ladies and gentlemen.

Extra Trips – What Are They?

We now plan to run a number of additional organised trips each year. Those trips will take a slightly different format. They will likely be limited to around 6 to 8 bikes maximum, including a trip guide, who will accompany the whole trip. However, the cost of the trip will include the costs associated with the trip guide. Each trip will be between 4 and 14 days, covering some of the best riding roads in Europe and some of the most interesting places to visit.  Hotels will be booked in advance and will be in the 3* category. Hotels, routes and locations will be selected using our extensive experience and knowledge to meet the requirements of bikers and their bikes.

Extra Trips – How Will They Be Delivered?

Proposed trips will be advertised well in advance of the proposed trip dates. The trip proposals will include an outline of routes, suggested locations for hotels, a price range for the trip, a min/max number people for the trip and a date for a decision. Those interested in taking part in the trip will submit their interest. If there are enough people expressing an interested in the trip by the decision date, then the trip will be commissioned, accurate costings will be provided and deposits taken.

If there is not enough interest, then the trip will be abandoned.

Once a trip is fully confirmed, those involved will be provided with route plans (itn and gpx) and a full ferry, Tunnel and hotel schedule with booking confirmation details. On the trip the guide will be at every hotel to help resolve any issues you may encounter and will accompany some of the group on the rides.
